Runtime verification of .NET contracts
نویسندگان
چکیده
We propose a method for implementing behavioral interface specifications on the .NET platform. Our interface specifications are expressed as executable model programs. Model programs can be run either as stand-alone simulations or used as contracts to check the conformance of an implementation class to its specification. We focus on the latter, which we call runtime verification. In our framework, model programs are expressed in the new specification language AsmL. We describe how AsmL can be used to describe contracts independently from any implementation language, how AsmL allows properties of component interaction to be specified using mandatory calls, and how AsmL is used to check the behavior of a component written in any of the .NET languages, such as VB, C], or Cþþ. 2002 Elsevier Science Inc. Static Verification for Code Contracts
The Code Contracts project [3] at Microsoft Research enables programmers on the .NET platform to author specifications in existing languages such as C# and VisualBasic. To take advantage of these specifications, we provide tools for documentation generation, runtime contract checking, and static contract verification. This talk details the overall approach of the static contract checker and exa...

operation contracts Reiner Hähnle, TU Darmstadt Proof reuse in formal software verification is crucial in presence of constant evolutionary changes to the verification target. Contract-based verification makes it possible to verify large programs, because each method in a program can be verified against its contract separately. A small change to some contract, however, invalidates all proofs th...
متن کاملComponents, Contracts and Vocabularies - Making Dynamic Component Assemblies more Predictable
In recent years, dynamic component-based systems such as OSGi and its derivatives have become very successful. This has created new challenges for verification. Assemblies are created and modified dynamically at runtime, but many existing techniques such as unit testing are designed for buildtime verification. Runtime verification is usually restricted to type checks. We propose a simple compon...
متن کاملPreliminary Results Towards Contract Monitorability
This paper discusses preliminary investigations on the monitorability of contracts for web service descriptions. There are settings where servers do not guarantee statically whether they satisfy some specified contract, which forces the client (i.e., the entity interacting with the server) to perform dynamic checks. This scenario may be viewed as an instance of Runtime Verification, where a per...
